Sirena takes us again on one of her signature adventures. This time we’re off with our sista’ SiosMar to be treated to a Janzu ~water massage session~ at a secret lagoon located just outside Tulum.

For those of you out there in need of Spanish translation for my alias ~Sirena Voladora~ it stands for “Flying Mermaid”. That said you can imagine how my heart sings when ever I’m off on a water expedition…and this one just won its place into the top 10 life changing moments one must indulge in while in Tulum.

Janzu is a kind of massage performed in water. The person that receives abandons herself in the arms of the healer in what soon becomes a dance of trust and surrender, submerging into an inner journey in which water acts as a catalyst for a very personal in~depth experience.

Mine was one of pure joy. I allowed Mar to gracefully move by body side to side, up and down, in and out, like a puppet being danced to bliss, flowing with the turquoise water that caressed my soul. Eyes shut, heart wide open.

I felt free, alive, ecstatic, a flying mermaid…literally. All I wanted to do was keep my head under water, synchronizing my breath to the movements my body was fluidly performing.

The peak of my experience was when Mar took all my hair with both her hands and began propulsing me through the water. I felt all my senses come to life and a tingling sensation surged all through my body as if it were rewiring me, striking me with the remembrance of my truest nature…bliss!

And out came the giggles. I laughed and laughed all through the end of the session. Somewhere in the back of my mind I could hear my dear friend Anya’s words of wisdom, “it’s all part of the cosmic joke”…and harder I laughed.
